Well, I think after many (x10) months of begging I think I have FINALLY convinced my hubby to build me a farmhouse dining room table! I’m so excited because I’ve been wanting one for so long and think it would look so great in my dining space. I’m also excited for him to take on this building project because he’s really great at building things and also because we have a gazillion tools in our garage that are just BEGGING to be used ;).
I was in the market to buy a table, but after seeing how expensive they were and how inexpensive they were to build I figured he should give it a go. I contemplated him building a round table, but I think for our long and narrow dining room a rectangle fits the space better and I also think it’s more of the traditional “farmhouse” style.
We both have decided (I think) to go with the plans we from Shanty 2 Chic. My goodness, I can get lost on their blog, they build such beautiful things! We’re going to have to make the table a bit smaller since my dining room can’t hold such a big table, but I LOVE it! It’s a knock off from Restoration Hardware. In the store, it would cost over $2,000 but they built it for only $110. Isn’t that crazy? You can’t beat that!
Once we start building (and when I say we I really mean HE) I will make sure to take pictures as we go along and share the experience with you all. And of course we’re talking about a husband building it, so it may take him a while to get started… we shall see, ha.
Have any of you built a farmhouse table? Do you have any tips for us?
